Make art for women’s activism is a project whose main objective is to end gender-based violence using participatory art approaches. The second main objective of the project is to build capacity for growing organizations. They intend to mentor and assist in the various challenges that the staff members face while carrying out their activities, for instance it has assisted with Project implementation and management, monitoring and evaluation and financial management. The project is intended to run for 3 years but the organization’s will only be financially assisted in the first year with 336,448 Malawian kwachas. The project started running from March 2020. YOWORI with financial assistance from art and global health center, together with Ministry of gender, education and Youth net and Counselling managed to train 5 primary schools in T/A Ntchema, on Gender based violence and channels of reporting abuse, each school brought 2 learners, with one teacher in charge from their respective schools due to COVID-19 restrictions. the training was for two days, the facilitators delivered their content through participatory art as guided by MAWA project. After a week, the participants were required to demonstrate and share with their fellow youths, parents, traditional leaders and other community members about what they had learnt in the two days training. The event brought together parents, traditional leaders, ministry of gender & education, Youth net and counselling and young people of all ages, totaling to an estimated population of 500 people were reached.
